What's Been Happening Lately

Wow, its been too long since I have posted here. Sorry. Ok here is what I have been up to the last few months.

I have been putting hours over at Attucks Community Service, a non-profit organization that is housed at Eurma C. Hayes Center. This is not the child care center or a City government unit. It is a neat place where school-age children come to after school for a variety of neat programs. They first get help with their homework. After that they get to participate in various activities such as going to movies, arts and crafts, group games, and other fun activities. They even have a drill team. Well guess who is the leader of that activity? You guess right if you said Angie Kaye.

I am really proud of the kids who come each week to practice for and hour and a half. Of course I can hardly walk out of the building after rehearsal, but is well worth the time. The kids performed in the Lights Fantastic Parade and are going to have a recital on April 27th. This recital is focused on dance numbers with music from around the world and the U.S. I have tried to expose the group to new types of music I am sure they would probably never listen to before and we learn about history and culture of the dances. This is going to be a fun time for everyone that attends. I will post on this later as the time gets closer.

I have also been teaching adult computer classes at John A Logan College. The classes will be finishing up in the next few weeks. I love teaching and never look forward to the last class of the semester, but I do need to get some rest.

I am also involved in spreading the good news about Melaleuca. This is a company that sells the most wonderful products such as personal health items, vitamins, household cleaners, beauty products and more that are all non toxic and safe for the environment. The products are made with tea tree oil from Australia. The tree is called Melaleuca. It is just fascinating how wonderful these products are and yet can help save the environment. If your are interested in these products, post a message here.

that's about it except for of course trying to spend time with David, my great and wonderful husband and with Shadi and his wife Karen, also know as "my kids". David and I went to a Christian Rock concert last Sunday up in Belleville. Have not seen the Kids in a few weeks since they are so busy with everything. If you love great music, check the band on Sundays at Key West in Carbondale, Shadi plays Sax and piano and the rest of the band is great as well. Always a great time.

Winston our dog, an English bulldog, has his own blog and needs to update it soon. It is winstonspeaks@blogspot.com so you might want to see what the crazy dog has to say.

Later everyone.

Working in Sandoval

Hi all!

I am in Sandoval for a few days helping a great group called Shalom! I love helping to write grants. The people are just the friendliest ever and so willing to help others.

Back home soon. Watch for the interesting development.

Thought for the day:

"To be loved you must love others as well as your self."

It takes time

It has been two weeks since Mom left here and went over the rainbow. The funeral was beautiful and I am sure she was happy to finally be in heaven and out of pain.

I have learned so much about life these pas few months. I know the love of another person is one of the most important things ever. It is so precious yet so fragile. I am glad to be back writing again and I appreciate the nice comments.

I will try to start writing some of the saying and thoughts that I originally wanted to do here.

Here is thir first:

"Love is not about changing people to fit our own image; it is about letting them be themselves."

Until tomorrow, always
